Mike Mullins - Why I Joined
I joined Cockburn SES in 2008 to help people in the community, learn some new skills and to meet some people in my local area as I had recently moved into the City of Cockburn. As many members of SES will attest joining SES has fulfilled all of the above and more lots lots more! I have met some great people, forged some great friendships, learnt many new skills but beyond all of that I have joined the "SES Family"!!

David Contera - Why I joined
Moving to a new suburb can often be a difficult and stressful experience. New surroundings, new people, new culture.
I attended a fete at our local Primary School just to see what the local community had to offer. The Cockburn SES unit had a display and I was lured into attending an information night. I never looked back!
Being a volunteer is very rewarding and there are many benefits to working within the community. Volunteering gives me the satisfaction of helping individuals, provide opportunities to develop my skills, develop friendships and experience with community organisations. It also gives me valuable workplace experience and potential pathways to employment and provides opportunities to learn about new cultures.
Whatever your cultural background, skills and experience, by working as a volunteer with a government funded service provider for only a few hours a fortnight, you can make a valuable contribution to the community.
